Rayna J. always had an affinity for music. “When I was a child, I was always entranced by song and sweet melodies. Some of my first memories are riding in the car with my mom and dad, and gazing into the sky as the sounds of smooth jazz, Anita Baker, Prince, Sade, Hall and Oates, and so many more became the soundtrack of my foundation on this journey.”

Detroit born and “Old” Atlanta raised, it was inevitable that she’d be greatly influenced by the signature sound, rich culture and alluring charm of both cities. “I was growing up in Atlanta when TLC, Outkast, Goodie Mob, booty shake music, and Kilo stayed in rotation on the radio” she says. “It was a really special time to come up in.” But it wasn’t until the passing of her mom and moving to Cincinnati to be raised by her aunt, that she developed the passion to write songs and create her own music. Those tender teenage years are where she studied and built the musical muscle that fueled the vision for her life and God given dream.

However, as she grew into adulthood and life became hard lesson after hard lesson, that dream grew dim and nearly died out completely. But, as she persevered through the darkness, by faith, her dreams were restored and her vision became more vast than ever before. “I want to do so much more.” It is with this divine ambition that Rayna J. is also appetent for composing; driving story with her sounds and music in film and television. “ I love it all. Music is me. I was put on this earth to create it in many facets and make an impact. When I was younger I only wanted to perform, sing, and rap, but now… I desire to invoke the soul of humanity through the precious melodies that dwell within me.”
